The client, a local project engineering company, retained our experts to conduct hydrological and hydraulic analysis, hydro energy analysis, hydro facility and equipment condition assessment as well as hydro unit and plant control system design. Activities also included the assistance in the equipment selection & procurement and the gates and water control design. The team was also involved in the dam rehabilitation design and in upstream and downstream fish passage feasibility and design. We also provided business/financial modelling and business planning services.

Services provided: Technical advisory – Financial advisoryThe client, an infrastructure and renewable energy specialized international investment fund, retained our team to verify the potential for new hydroelectric development at an existing dam in Brazil. Advisers focused their involvement in analyzing the design feasibility using existing irrigation flows to generate electricity, the conceptual design assessments including an estimate of cost/benefit, and supporting the local project development engineering company in initiating pursuit of a full license to build and operate the plant. Services included the hydro feasibility and planning, hydrology and hydraulic analysis, study scoping and development, entrainment, impingement and fish mortality study, sediment transport study and hydraulic modeling as well as support to full license application. The team was also involved in engaging project stakeholders in order to to assess potential project effects, define the specifications and conduct the related environmental studies as well as in the development of the license application documents.

Our client, a major infrastructure international conglomerate, retained our team to conduct a full due diligence on a large hydro project in China, reviewing the generation equipment, maintenance, operational experience, history and performance of the plant to date. The study included site visits, operational testing of the units as well as inspection of all available components.
The due diligence report covered the assessment of fitness for purpose of all principal elements of the works including chosen manufacturers and major works components, the analysis of any outstanding final completion works, a commentary on final testing and commissioning of the works, the verification of compliance with all contractual performance guarantees, the outstanding warranties and repair/replacement arrangements, the continuing defects liabilities and warranties, the verification of adequate provision of spare parts, appropriate training of operating staff procedures and the verification of handover process to the plant operator.
